• Got a Gas Fireplace? How About a Gas Insert?
Autumn is in the air and it won’t be long before Old Man Winter arrives at our doorsteps. Yes indeed, it won’t be long before many of us will be doing this…

...followed by this - by far the BEST part!

After a wintery experience like a date with your snow shovel, there’s nothing better than simply touching a remote control or wall switch to start a fire. It’s one of the great benefits of having a gas fireplace or insert. Another benefit is low maintenance – you aren’t making trips to the woodpile and there’s no ash to clean up. But remember, there are a few things you should do to maintain your gas fireplace or insert, especially before firing up for the first time this season...

    Clean the Glass

It’s hard to appreciate a great fire through cloudy or dirty glass. Here’s how to clean it.
      • Make sure the gas valve is off and the glass is completely cool.
      • Remove the front face the fireplace, and then carefully remove the glass assembly (follow instructions in owners’ manual). Lay them on a soft surface.
      • Wipe down both sides of the glass with a soft cloth and a cleaner specified for fireplace glass, like Stove Bright or Rutland White Off. Never use abrasive cleaners or cloths. Scratching can cause the glass to shatter.
      • When finished, put the glass back on the fireplace.

    Clean the Inside

When the front glass is off (see above), remove any dirt or dust using a soft paint brush or vacuum.

    Do an Inspection

Check the inside of your gas fireplace or insert for any damage, such as rust or flaking. Call a dealer if you need service or replacement parts.

    Light the Fire!

Fire up your gas fireplace or insert, put your feet up and enjoy the fire!

If your home doesn’t have a gas fireplace or insert, you can have one installed. Adding one will not only warm your toes, but will transform a room that was drab into a relaxing and cozy retreat … Just see the difference a fireplace can make in these fantastic “before and after” photos!
